A Knitter in His Natural Habitat is book 3 in the Knitting series, and please forgive me for excluding these characters from the first two books where they first arrive.
Rance, from book 1, often went into the big city before meeting Ben to deliver yarn. In one of the stores he met Stanely, an “aging queen” with new hair plugs. The men hook up in the bathroom, which happens for years whenever Rance comes to deliver.
"Johnny," or Giovanni, is the man who saves Jeremy when Jeremy’s dad is murdered. He works for the mob as a family thing, but now he’s in witness protection since he’s testifying against his boss. Johnny becomes the new delivery man for Rance, since Rance’s yarn operation has taken off and he wants to spend more time with Ben.
Stanley isn’t happy with his job working in a yarn store. He’s actually the floor designer for a chain of various craft stores owned by one family, yet this was never how he envisioned his life. He’s been working in the same store for years, yet he’s never picked up his own knitting needles, even though he can sell yarn and equipment with the best of them. Eventually, he begins to learn and just when he’s happy to accept his life as it is, in walks Johnny.
Stanley is a man slut, but Johnny wants him for him, not for his body so they start to actually go on dates, rather than just hook up. They eventually fall in love, but then Johnny’s past comes back to ruin his life and Stanley’s.
This was a great ending to the series and I really wanted to learn how to knit by the end of it.
